It's all about "that" Teachers School Supplies!

Help Needed for our Teachers!

We Missed the Bus!

Announcing our 2024  “We Missed the Bus” Teachers’ School Supplies Drive

July 15th to August 15, 2024.  Lisa Arakaki is leading this project – Thank you Lisa!

Why Does South SLO County Womenade hold a teachers’ school supplies drive?

Womenade is about meeting urgent and emergency needs in south SLO County.  We believe that teachers’ school supplies are an urgent need!

  • In the Lucia Mar Unified School District most of our schools are Title 1 Schools. Title 1 provides all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps.

  • 94% of teachers reach into their own pockets to purchase classroom necessities

  • On average, educators spend somewhere between $500 and $750 of their own money every year on things students need, with many spending more than $1,000.

  • Inflation has increased the prices of school supplies by almost 24% in the last 2 years

  • The need to spend so much of their income for supplies is part of what drives educators away from the profession.

  • Educators make lower salaries than other similarly educated professionals.

  • Students perform better when they have the proper tools to learn.

Here is a list of school supplies that teachers in our district have asked for:

  • Glue sticks

  • BABY wipes

  • Blue Clorox wipes (to clean surfaces)

  • Painters Tape

  • Masking Tape

  • Markers

  • Colored marker sets for students

  • Large Sharpies for Poster Board

  • Dry Erase both Color/Black

  • Strong Magnets/Magnet Clips

  • Scotch Laminating Sheets

  • Durable Folders

  • Avery Labels 6427
