POTLUCK
Mark your calendars! Our next potluck is on June 21st at 6PM at Mariam Shah’s home at 2410 Green Place, Arroyo Grande. Evites were just sent out. We will be outdoors! Please bring a dish to share, you place setting setup and a check for $50 (more is always appreciated!) and a friend. We love to welcome new people to our group. If you didn’t receive one and would like to attend, please email us at sslocwomenade@gmail.com. We’d love to have you join us! PROJECTS
LOPEZ HIGH SCHOOL BICYCLES In our last newsletter we put out a request for a couple of bikes for students at Lopez High School who wanted bikes so they could look for jobs. The response was wonderful, and we have enough funds to purchase a couple of bikes. In addition we received a donation of a bike. Then we connected with the sheriff’s department and they were able to provide a couple of bikes from their bike repair and giveaway program. With the end of school and summer fast approaching there have been additional requests for bikes for the same reason. We expect the request for bikes will continue for awhile. Thanks to all who made monetary and physical donations! CULINARY VOLUNTEERS
Also in our last newsletter we asked for volunteers for the culinary class a Lopez High School, and we received at least 4 responses and I know at least one of them had a successful teaching session making thin mint cookies! Yum! Thank you all who volunteered. It was a great way for the students to end the school year. OTHER PROJECTS – What’s next?
We are still looking for leaders of a couple of other projects for the fall. Leaders recruit a team to help with the project. Womenade will make the initial contact with the agencies to determine need and will supply teams with contact information for communications and deliveries.
In September we would like to run a General Toiletries drive. Hygiene Poverty is rampant in our community.
In October we would like to run a “we missed the bus” drive specifically for teachers . Once the “stuff the bus” campaign is over teachers will still be missing critical teaching school supplies and are always reaching into their own pockets for these supplies.
Please email us at sslocwomenade@gmail.com if you would like to run one of these projects. FUNDRAISING EFFORTS AT TRILOGY
